Task 05 – Critical Analysis of Radio Presenting

I’ve picked two types of shows to present the methods they use to play music.

Firstly, I picked a radio show. The radio show I’m writing about is The Drum and Bass Show with René LaVice. This is a weekly show he does on BBC Radio 1 and he mixes up to 90 minutes. However in this particular show I’m going to talk about, he has a guest mix on instead, which is only 30 minutes. The way this show has been done is a little bit of dialogue at the start of the stream, an introduction as such to the guest which is Bcee. In this he talks about Bcee’s background, like the label his under and talks about his upcoming album he is releasing. Like a teaser to the new audience or even fans.

This is the show in action. The only downfall to this show is the track id’s are not announced on the stream. The only way of getting these track id’s is to go onto the website, find the show, and the track id’s are just below and it has every id. So if people was listening on the radio, some people wouldn’t know the name of a track, unless they went onto the website.

Secondly, I picked a live show that was recorded and was posted to youtube after. It is Serum and Voltage. It was basically an hour of a live show they performed infant of a live crowd, but the was no MC. So track id’s were not spoken of. The is the difference between these, there was no access of the track id’s! Luckily, someone has written the whole streams track id’s into the comments! So the audience could see that too. Unfortunately not every video has this, but this one did!
